Google Assistant - Get things done, hands-free review
Google Assistant is an adjustable voice assisting application that understands your speech and learns how to do what you need. I use it to catch up with the schedule, control some smart home appliances, make calls and search web pages while driving, and many more. It’s easy to set up and use and makes many routine tasks quicker.
Features – 9/10
The latest version of Google Assistant provides an extended list of commands and lets you adjust the app to match your everyday needs. For example, if you love listening to music while driving, you can tell GA which tracks to play using genres, names, and many other voice identifications. Google Assistant also makes hands-free communication much easier. You can ask it to read recent messages, call someone, or send an SMS without touching your phone.
If your car doesn’t support Android Auto or CarPlay, Google Assistant will help you out with navigation. It can easily brief you about the current situation on the road, find the nearest place to eat, or navigate you anywhere you want.
If you need some help with time management and notes, Google Assistant can type notes for you, set timers and wake-up calls, remind you about upcoming events or deadlines, and many other things. During your vacation, you can ask Google Assistant to convert currencies, read the weather forecast. Initially, Google Assistant was a default Android app, but now you can use it on iOS devices as well if Siri can’t help you well enough.
Ease of Use – 9/10
If you use Google Assistant on an Android device, you can use it without the need to switch on the screen and unlock the phone. Just say ‘Ok Google’ and then say what you need after a short sound signal. For most of the time, the app recognizes what you say, but you should always pronounce commands loud and accurate to avoid misunderstanding.
Design – 9/10
After the recent global update of Google apps, Google Assistant got a permanent control dash at the bottom. You can utilize it to activate the assistant, call the keyboard, launch the navigator, and do other things. Sometimes, these buttons help to switch to another mode faster and use direct voice commands without saying ‘Ok Google.’
Pricing – 10/10
Google Assistant comes as a part of the free Google bundle so you can be sure to get the full list of features and the latest updates for free. If you want to use GA for online shopping, it won’t work because access to your money requires more valid identification than your voice. However, you can search the product on Amazon, eBay, or any other website via Google Search.
